Lieutenant Stranger
Hello all! I have a question regarding L'Art de Dire. I am going to use L'Art de Lire for both me and my daughter (3rd grade). For my son, who is 7 and going into 2nd, I was considering L'Art de Dire since he is a new reader. Is "Dire" just a bunch of lesson plans I need to put together? Or is it already work that I just need to break up and assign? Thanks so much! I'm ready to just PICK my program and start scheduling things out! AsgardCA
If I remember, it's pretty scripted. They tell you what to say, how to prompt, which extra activities to include and when. I'd say you probably just break it up. I don't recall having to plan anything out except when to do our lessons.
MinivanMom
It's lesson plans, but they are not scripted so you have a bit of freedom in terms of how you implement it. The book is broken into themed units, and then each unit is broken down into individual lessons. I have always done about 1 lesson per day. I try to work in a review at the end of each unit (or more often if needed). The program is completely oral, so you are naturally interacting and conversing. I never gave my kids an assignment to go do; we were always just chatting together in French.
