StaceyinLA
My dd has starting sewing some really precious vintage-looking baby items and is wanting to open an Etsy shop. What is the best way to go about this?
songsparrow
Do you mean the step-by-step for how to set up on the Etsy site? Etsy has instructions for the step-by-step process. Do you mean advice for marketing and such? I'd be curious to hear what more experienced sellers have to say.
Hen
we just opened one for my dd16, it was really easy, etsy has great walk-through instructions. The most difficult parts were picking a name, figuring out what we would charge for shipping and then deciding on what kind of payments to take- but implementing it all was very easy. We decided to not take credit cards, because I didn't want to link my bank account, but we can take paypal easily. for the shipping, we looked at similiar shops and adopted their rates for now...we can adjust if we see a problem. My dd is selling original art.
StaceyinLA
Thanks for the information! I will definitely check out the instructions on Etsy. Dd is making baby onesies/rompers out of vintage-looking adult tee shirts. She is also hoping to add some handmade baby dresses and other baby items over time. Mrs Mungo
Thanks for the information! I will definitely check out the instructions on Etsy. Dd is making baby onesies/rompers out of vintage-looking adult tee shirts. She is also hoping to add some handmade baby dresses and other baby items over time. I just wanted to say that I would warn against advertising them as sleepwear because sleepwear has to meet federal fire resistant standards. I would add a disclaimer that they are not sleepwear. Good luck to your dd! And share her link with us once her shop is set up so that we can pass it on! :)
