SWR & AAS Tiles?

I don't have my SWR yet and not exactly sure how it will all lay out on the teaching end. But I was wondering if I should keep my AAS tiles. My boys LOVE them, I have not told them we switched yet and I know they will be bummed if we don't use them. But what do you think sell them and get some of the $ back or keep them because I will be able to use them with SWR a bit?

If I were you, I would absolutely keep using them. SWR is a totally different approach - writing words in a composition book and marking them - but I am all for modifying things to suit my child. Just so you know, I do believe the SWR approach is better because it uses all the modes of learning (visual, aural, kinesthetic) but if your kids are more visual learners, they will do well enough with tiles.

So I would either use both approaches (i.e. make some words with tiles for fun, then write all the words in the book,) or I would just do the tiles if that works.

If they love them, you really should keep them. While SWR emphasizes the importance of learning to read and spell through the physical act of writing, it does encourage enrichment activities of the kind that you could use the tiles for. So, for example, your children should be taking dictation by writing the words, and they should hand write their quizzes and tests. But you can have them use the tiles for extra supplementary activities without going against any SWR admonition. At some point, you will surely find that they no longer have interest in the tiles, and you could still then sell them (assuming you still have them all ;)).
