I assumed it was a writing program but when I checked it out the program for 5-8 year olds it looked like it could be phonics? Anyone have positive/negative experiences with using it? Farrar Posted June 20, 2013 Share Posted June 20, 2013 It's a whole language arts program. The Wand - the program for younger kids - teaches a variety of things, including phonics. Jot It Down - the other product for younger kids - has writing projects where you help your child with the writing. We do Brave Writer lifestyle and love it. I suggest starting by reading some of her blog and if you like what you see, consider buying The Writer's Jungle, which lays out the philosophy of her system. Or, consider buying Jot It Down (I'm assuming you have younger kids?) and trying the projects and suggestions in there. And, if you're on board, consider getting The Wand.
