mlktwins
The boys will be 8 next week. I guess it was a good run while it lasted :-)!!!! He didn't make it to the bathroom the first time (made the bucket after that) and I am tired. Hoping the rest of us don't succumb!!! I'm a little emetaphobic, but I handled it better than I thought. Now off to do a lot of laundry! That is all :-)
hmvaughan4
We've made it almost seven years for our oldest. How did they react? I'm concerned that when the times comes, DS is going to be scared because he's never been sick.
Guest inoubliable
Ugh. Hope it clears up quickly!
mlktwins
We've made it almost seven years for our oldest. How did they react? I'm concerned that when the times comes, DS is going to be scared because he's never been sick. The one that is sick has been car sick a few times. We always have a bucket in the car though. He didn't like getting all messy and was a little freaked out because it was during the night while he sleeping. I hope you don't deal with this anytime soon!! wintermom
We just had the stomach flu here. Someone on another forum suggested I stock up with easy to digest foods before I got sick, too, and it was the best thing I've ever done! I bought apples, apple sauce, soda crackers, chicken soup, bread, rice, crackers, grape juice, ginger tea and ginger ale. I mentioned our family dilema to the check-out lady at the grocery store, as I figured all these items spelled out stomach trouble, and she said she had just gotten out of the hospital from dehydration after a severe stomach flu. All the best for your family!
Mommyof4ks
Ugh, that was us too. We were tummy bug free for over 8 years, and this year we all got it in May. Yuck! My kids were shocked. It was sad.
nd293
We made it from 6 months to nearly 7 years without a vomiting for dd ... and then in was appendicitis! I think some stomach bugs should be mandatory, just to prepare you for the big stuff. My first experience with a vomiting child was actually with ds, about a year before dd's appendicitis adventure. I had absolutely no clue what was 'normal' for a vomiting baby, and listened to the doctors who said it was fine, when it pretty clearly wasn't. It turned out to be intussusception. Now ds vomits whenever he has a fever but he always stops eating well before, which makes the whole thing much more bearable.
Ali in OR
This has been a bad year for norovirus. And sorry to say that if that is what you are dealing with, prepare for everyone in the house to succumb. And keep away from the outside world until everyone is symptom free for 72 hours. Please! lea1
We recently had our lucky streak broken also. My two will be 8YO in Sept and Nov and had never thrown up before. About a week ago, ds with Sept b-day woke up freezing cold during the night. While I was looking for the thermometer, he lost it on the kitchen floor. We were both so shocked it took us both a minute before we moved into action. I honestly had to think for a minute to figure out the best way to clean up that huge mess (and I had to hold my breath). Turns out ds had caught hand, foot, mouth disease from the neighbor children. I think he only threw up because of high fever. Other ds caught it too and never had the throw up part. I actually even had some symptoms of it. I'm glad we are all over it. I think that is the highest fever my two sons have ever had.
mlktwins
I'm so sorry you all have been dealing with this too! He hasn't been sick since early yesterday morning although he has been eating a bland diet. We are getting ready to attempt "real" food in a few minutes. None of the rest of us were affected (and praying it stays that way). My hands are raw from cleaning, scrubbing, rubber gloves, washing clothes, etc. I have been reading about the Norovirus this year. I DO NOT WANT THAT!!!! countrygal
Sorry your sick. I've heard it's common to get from public swimming pools :p ew.... not to scare you away but it makes me nervous. We get it almost every year, however we missed this last year from some odd luck, but hey, I'll take it! It's miserable having babies and toddlers throwing up at night, it's nice yours are old enough to aim. I always try to keep at least Gatorade in the cupboard as well.
