VeganCupcake
I have a Vitamix. It is seriously heavy duty and will blend anything.

Dancer_Mom
We have a vitamix and have loved it. No problems really but we discovered it's limits just tonight. I was trying to make ice cream out of frozen bananas (just frozen bananas nothing else) and we got the motor burning a little. When we blended the frozen banana pieces without liquid it was so thick it was struggling. We really need to get a food processor I guess in addition to it?? By the way we got it to blend before the burning smell started and the "ice cream" was delicious!
edeemarie
We have a Vitamix and love, love, love it! I make things like green smoothies (which turn out very smooth and not gritty), grain free recipes made with almond flour (I can use whole almonds instead of buying almond flour), peanut or almond butter, cashew milk, and so much more! I have saved so much money using it since I can prepare things at home instead of buying them.
kfeusse
my friend who has a health master says that she can make soup in it and it even heats it for her....can the vitamix do that???
Eagle
We have a Vitamix here and use it daily. It stands up well to a lot of use. I make smoothies, almond butter, almond and cashew milk, ground nuts, puréed soups, fruit sorbet, whipped coconut milk topping, ground seaweed, almond flour, coconut flour, and more! If you choose to buy a Vitamix you can use the code 06-005769 for free shipping.
Eagle
my friend who has a health master says that she can make soup in it and it even heats it for her....can the vitamix do that??? Yes, that's one of the things they show you at Vitamix demo events. The same machine can make hot soup and ice cream! Personally I don't use a blender to make soup, but I do use it to purée ones I cook on the stove. I find the flavour and texture of a blender-made soup not as good as when I sauté the veggies, simmer the flavours together, and then blend the cooked soup at a lower power setting. YMMV. kfeusse
the price difference is so great...$150 vs $400....so what does the vitamix do that the healthymaster can't do? Does anybody here know. the reviews on both machines on Amazon vary....mostly 5 stars...but both have a few 1-3 stars too...mostly complaining that the motor burned out or something similar...I am assuming that is a flaw of the operator, not the machine (most likely)...but there were also complaints that the customer service of both machines were less than ideal....how true are those complaints?? I am a HUGE customer service gal....if a company has great CS.....I will be the first to let the world know. ....and vice versa.....I believe you either stand by your product or don't sell it. tammyw
We bought our Vitamix 6 years ago and it's still going strong. It broke down once and they immediately sent the new part (plus tools to fix it) and it was as good as new. If it ever broke, I'd buy a new one. It's seriously the best thing ever. Oh, and I didn't even have my receipt. I just gave them my serial number and they said "it's under warranty" and immediately sent out the new stuff. The customer service shocked me with how easily they could figure out the problem and fix it! I use it for making smoothies, pasta sauces, etc. But it makes everything SO smooth. Even icy drinks. I had a $100 Williams Sonoma blender before that and it did nothing in comparison to the Vitamix. It's amazing.
VeganCupcake
I think all Vitamixes come with a standard 5 to 7 year warranty, depending on the model you purchase. During that time, they'll pay to have it shipped to them for repairs and shipped back to you.
Jan in SC
The amazon review I saw has 185 one star reviews. Is this a different machine? http://www.amazon.com/HealthMaster-LWHM-1100-Watt-Vegetable-Emulsifier/product-reviews/B002VED30M When I googled the health master, I found complaint after complaint. I have a vitamix and love it, but if you don't need that much power, I would go for the ninja over the health master.
kfeusse
it sounds like I need to save a few more pennies and buy a vitamix. Where is the best place (cheapest) place to get one?? Are they in stores or only online?? And, which one...there are like 4 different models...what makes each one different??
LibraryLover
I have never used a Health Master. I do have a vita mix that is 8 years old. It's 'industrial' strength, or restaurant quality. The motor (and blades) is what you're paying for. Your usage determines whether you need the more costly motor. You can throw a whole apple in the vita mix, and if you blend the heck out if it, you won't find a trace of seed when it's over. ;)

If you have a costco membership, you could check to see when their next road show is in your area. We bought ours there and it was the best deal around. Annie
I bought my Vitamix refurbished from their website to save some money, and I've been very happy with it. It came with the 7 year warranty. I think I've had mine for four years now with no problems.
kfeusse
I looked on the website at the refurbished ones..they are cheaper....but not by much...and they only have a 5 year warranty vs the 7 year. So, what would you do...pay more for 7 years....or less for 5? And still again...WHICH vitamix would I want? I think I basically want it for smoothies, soups, sauces,..but I guess I am still not 100% sure what it all can do. Is it worth getting the most expensive one?? deannajo
After continually killing blenders, I knew I needed to get something more heavy duty. I really wanted a Vitamix, but I thought I'd save money and got a HealthMaster instead - Soon after I got it, I had an issue with a ball bearing falling out? I read that was pretty common, but it still mostly worked ok - although, if I remember correctly, I couldn't get that fixed under warranty because the year warranty (at the time, is it still a year?) only covered the motor, and the rest was covered under a 30 or 90 day thing - can't remember. Then it completely blew up (blew out the motor - just like I was doing with cheaper blenders and my constant smoothy habit) soon after the year warranty expired. So I bought a Vitamix - that was about five years ago - I've tried to kill it, but it is a work horse. And not only will it not die, but everything is much smoother and quicker. I put greens in my smoothies, and with the healthmaster, and other blenders, I was just used to small pieces of green - no biggie - that totally isn't the case with the Vitamix. I wish I had bought the vitamix years ago - in all the blenders I've been through, including the HealthMaster, it would have been so much more affordable. Oh, and I bought a refurb VitaMix - its been absolutely fine.
Eagle
I own the least expensive Vitamix that comes with the large-capacity container. I later received the dry container accessory as a gift and use it to grind a lot of flour and seaweed. The regular container does make flour, but the dry container gives it a little finer grind. If you aren't regularly grinding things to a powder you will be just fine with the least expensive model that only comes with one container. VeganCupcake
Costco does have a great deal on them. I have the 200--the one with on/off and hi/low. It's more than enough for what I need.

I own a great flour mill, so I won't need my viatmix to do that...but I also thought of something else I want to do...make peanut butter...will the least expensive one do that?
