kfeusse
She is buying it with her own money. She was thinking around the $130 mark. A really good zoom is important to her. I want it to be a camera that she won't outgrown in a year or two. Can anybody help us pick out one that would be a good choice for her? thanks. Whereneverever
What about a Nikon Coolpix s6500? I'm normally a Canon fan but at that price point it's hard. My nine year old takes pretty good pictures with the Coolpix. What does she want to shoot? How far out?
kfeusse
she was looking at one that had a 14x and even a 16x zoom...but they were a little out of our price range.
AngieW in Texas
This is the one that kept my dd happy for two years. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Digital-Camera-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B00728Z8TG/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1371355664&sr=8-15&keywords=panasonic+lumix Now she has a Nikon D5100 DSLR camera. She saved up for a long time to be able to buy it. It runs around $500. It was a huge step up, but it is a camera that she won't really outgrow. Sasharowan
This is an excellent camera and although Amazon has it for over $300, I was able to get it for just over $100 at Target and my SIL got it for about $175 at Walmart. Also, Amazon has some older models with less Mp for around $100. Good luck.
Word Nerd
We've been happy with our Canon PowerShot ELPH cameras. They range in price depending on what features you want; the ones that have higher zoom capabilities would be more than the price range you're looking at. Sparkle
The Panasonic Lumix is nice, we own one. Here's a tip: visit a pawn shop. We've found nice, nearly new cameras and other electronics for a fraction of the new price, and they usually have a grace period where you can take it home and try it out and if it doesn't work you can return it.
