Question for Atlanta people

I have to drive around Atlanta to get to Rome Georgia. Google maps has me take the 85 South, bypass Atlanta on the 285 West, and pick up the 75 North. I will be doing this at fairly high traffic times.

Do you think it would be better, less traffic, to take the 140 to the 92? Would I have a lot of traffic lights or heavy traffic that way? Unfortunately, I will be doing this between 4 - 6 in the afternoon! I haven't been to Atlanta in a long time but I do remember the hideous traffic!

20 would be the worst option. I'd check traffic just before you get to 140 and make the decision then. 140 and 92 have 2-4 lanes each direction, and although there are lots of traffic lights, they are major thoroughfares and not dinky side streets. If it's a Friday afternoon or the day before a holiday, I'd just go 140 to 92. It may or may not be faster, but less stressful. And you can stop for snacks if necessary. :)

Yes, it will be a Friday afternoon:(. Bummer, right? But I am sure 4 or 5 days in Rome Georgia will be totally worth it!
