jewellsmommy
UPDATE: Dh brought the test by. He really thought pregnancy was a possibility. It was one of the early types. It was Negative. I'm pretty sure I am ok. But I have no idea what can cause these kind of symptoms. I think I have decided that aliens abducted me and gave me a b**b job in my sleep. No other explanation. The cramping could just be an endometriosis thing, even if I am not menstruating. It is the bre@st component that is most strange. Pain I get, but color changes and swelling/growth??? I am quite perplexed by what is going on. I am 33 years old. Late Sunday night I noticed some bre@st tenderness. It has continued. It seems localized to the aureol@ area. Shortly after the tenderness began, I started crampy-like pains with some occasional cervical stabbing pains <_<. Those are always fun. They seem to have gradually grown more mild since they started late Sunday night. I thought for sure I was about to start, but I haven't, and they are growing more mild rather than stronger. I have never had bre@st tenderness associated with menstrual stuff. Last night I noted that my bre@sts were different. The upper area seems more toned and...well...just bigger overall/swollen? The aureol@ area has a more purplish tint. The overall shape has shifted. I do have fibrocystic bre@sts, though. Now, for those of you that think that I'm dense and that these are obvious pregnancy symptoms, let me fill you in on some background: 1. I have pcos. I do not menstruate on my own, hardly ever. I will go a yr without a period easy. I don't even remember my last cycle, but It has been at least 6 months. 2. I have endometriosis. So put 1 and 2 together and you see that I am not the most fertile critter to begin with. 3. I have only ever conceived one time. DD. We only managed this through medical intervention. 4. Way too much Info warning: Dh has swimmers that are just plain lazy (low motility) 1-4 would put odds of natural conception somewhere near miraculous! I know y'all wanted to know more about me right? Well, there you go. :tongue_smilie: But seriously, what could this be? Should I wait it out or make an appt?
hjffkj
honestly, I'd take a pregnancy test before anything. I know all those things you listed makes pregnancy very hard but not impossible and I've known people to conceive under similar circumstances after not having kids without assistance before. Its the easiest thing to do anyway before having to decide to make an appointment
kristi26
My neighbor has the same stuff going on and she and her DH conceived on their own twice, five years apart, despite the fact that the dr told her she would never be able to have kids in all likely-hood. She was 32ish when the youngest was born. I'd take a test and then I'd go in to see the dr if that turned out negative. Good luck!
jewellsmommy
I did consider this, but I just feel so dumb doing it. I have seen soooo many negative tests in my life...It is hard to explain. If no one can find any other possible condition/phenomenon/explanation then I will feel better about getting a test.
jewellsmommy
After we acquired ds, I closed that door mentally. Taking a preg test is like cracking that door open again. I have spent years convincing myself that I don't want to have another one. I have found the joy in the place that I am in now and am rolling with it. I don't know what will happen if I allow myself to consider this a real enough possibility that I would go out and purchase a test and actually go through it...talking is one thing...experiencing it...waiting those blasted, torturous minutes...ergh. This probably makes no sense to most normal women. sigh :(
Anne
((Tammy)) It makes perfect sense to me that you are so reluctant to take a pg test!! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Anne
Twigs
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: and remember, a pg test is probably the 1st thing they will do at a dr's office, even with your history. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
*lifeoftheparty*
I have PCOS as well. DH and I have not used any birth control for about 10 years. I had DS about 9 years ago and we never used BC again, always hoping to have more. After a while, I just realized I needed to be happy with the one I have. For our 10 year anniversary, we went to California. I was not feeling well the whole time. By the end, I was exhausted. I didn't want to eat anything. My boobs were hurting. My calves were too, which was weird, but I just attributed that to walking around San Francisco. The whole plane ride home, I was convinced I would start my period. Never did. Pregnancy never even crosses my mind. The baby turns 7 months old tomorrow :) my boys are 8.5 years apart :)
Um_2_4
I also have PCOS and as you can see I have several (only help we had was some hormone supplements and metformin). I was told by an endocrinologist who specializes in this that: 1. As we with PCOS get a bit older our fertility can actually increase (has to do with dropping Estrogen levels etc was we age) and 2. Sometimes we (women with PCOS) just surprisingly get pg. My mom also had PCOS and I was that surprise after 7 years and they had no medical help. I totally get the not wanting to take yet another test. (at one point I bought them online in bulk LOL), but if you go the dr that is the 1st thing they will do, just fyi. Look at it as "ruling that out" so you can tell the dr you already thought of that possibility.
jewellsmommy
Thank you all. You are right about the doctor. I should have realized that. My primary doc says the same thing every time I see him (and have to answer with a ? when asked "last menstruation"). He says he is going to see me on that show 'I didn't know I was pregnant.' I just inwardly roll my eyes. Um 2 4, that it is interesting about the increasing fertility. I have never been told that. I have actually been putting off the decision about when to have a hysterectomy. The endometriosis causes quite a bit of trouble even though I am not menstruating. My obgyn has always said that it was just a matter of time. In fact (about 3 yrs ago) 2 months before we knew about ds, my obgyn had asked if I wanted to start the treatment cycle to try and conceive one more time before it was too late because I "wasn't getting any younger or thinner" :001_huh: :glare: Hey! After my 'did you really just point that out' shock, dh said he could go either way and it was up to me. We both wanted another one, but I did not feel as though God was giving me the strength to jump through all those hoops like I had the first time. We declined and then God brought ds into our lives. Well, I do not feel like leaving the house. So, I just called dh and asked if there was anyway he could pick up a test. He said he would. Last night, when I had gotten up to go to the bathroom, is when I realized that my bre@asts were larger and changed. I woke him up, threw my night gown over my head and said "honey look, what do you notice?" After I calmed his enthusiasm  . Poor fella. He was surprised to find that he noticed changes too. So when I called him, he said he had been thinking of the possibility. He said he remembered those particular changes from only one other event in our lives. I've a friend who both she and her dh had fertility problems to the point it was cheaper and less hassle to adopt. 18 years after they got married and adopted four boys, she got pregnant naturally. do a pg test. at the very least, it will rule things out. your drs would do that first anyway. (well, except for one idiot whose patient insisted she was infertile so he didn't. she was.)
unsinkable
(((Tammy))) I don't know what to tell you but I can understand about not wanting to"open the door."
gardenmom5
I don't know what will happen if I allow myself to consider this a real enough possibility that I would go out and purchase a test and actually go through it.. btdt. with dudeling, I hadn't conceived once in 10 years despite no bc. I was over 40 and perimenopausal. when I was taking a supplement that isn't good in pg, I had a little voice in the back of my head say "don't take that, you're pregant." I scoffed loudly. yeah. right. tell me another. If it hadn't been for that experience, I wouldn't have given it any thought. I refused to go buy a pg test until I "was late". I didn't want to waste money on a test that would make me feel like an idiot to have a negative result. when I finally broke down and bought a test, I still waited a few more days to test. then I did tons of online research into false positives, becuase I still didn't believe it was real. (false positives are rare, false negatives are very common.)
jewellsmommy
Thank you all for being supportive. Test is Negative. I still don't know what to think. How long do I give it before I consider a doctor appt for the bre@st changes?
Um_2_4
I would call and ask your nurse if they are helpful and know you in the office. Are you on ANY new meds? Some have some odd side effects.....
gardenmom5
if changes continue, retest in a few days. use first morning urine - it is more concentrated and is less likely to give a false negative. (from my own experience and research, false negatives were pretty common.) you'd need to talk to your dr if PCOS can cause this.
jewellsmommy
I went ahead and called the doc. I have an appt for the 28th. If nothing changes between now and then, I might test again because dh bought a 2 pak. I wish they made ultra scientific-lab oriented toilets that read your urine for you. My toilet could then tell me if I ever became pregnant, got a uti, or if I needed to drink more water.
sbgrace
My hormones are going wild (peri-memopause here I think, I'm 40), and I'm having breast "growth" issues for the first time I can ever remember outside of pregnancy. I'd think hormones are shifting...maybe you've actually ovulated, if you ever do that on your own.

lmrich
Do you do self breast exams? Or have had a recent mammogram? Good luck!
Cinder
I recently went through something similar. I don't have PCOS and I'm pretty regular but a couple months ago I was late. After about a week or so late I started having pregnancy symptoms: breast tenderness, that "let down" feeling you get when nursing, tiredness, dizziness. I was convinced I was pregnant. Took a test; negative. Figured the test was wrong so a couple days later I took another; negative. It so happened my annual gyn exam was a few days later and they did a blood test; negative. At that point my symptoms just went away. OB suggested my lateness might be due to not ovulating that month (I'm in my late 40's) but I didn't get a satisfactory answer to why I had pregnancy symptoms. She also did a hormone test for menopause and I'm not there yet. A couple days later I finally got my period. No answers but I can relate a little to what you're going through with the not knowing. :grouphug:
