crazyforlatin
We need to be in Belgium for some time. I usually order vitamins from iherb.com and swansonvitamins.com in the U.S. Any similar and reputable online seller in Europe? I found a couple of places located in U.K. but one distributor claims that a package leaving U.K. and entering Belgium needs to go through customs and incur an unknown fee. Is this correct? I thought countries within the E.U. don't need to inspect packages coming from another member state. Is the free movement of goods here in the U.S. different than E.U.'s definition? Update: Found the answers by ordering, VAT included, no customs within EU.
Ellie
Amway has distributors in Belgium. You'd need to go to Amway's Web site to find out more. Amway's vitamin and food supplement line, Nutrilite, is very, very good.
crazyforlatin
Thanks, Ellie, I've never heard of this company and will look into their products.
lailasmum
I will check who I buy off when I'm not on my phone but a package within Europe shouldn't incur customs fees. I order from other parts of Europe regularly and never get fees. They could be in the Channel Islands though which is not part of the EU. I last bought off www.revital.com. Thank you, I've been reading more about EU and I'm less confused now. Thank you for the link. I'm finding out now that the US online vitamin stores are a lot cheaper. Guest someoneusa
Hi, Did you ever order your supplements? I'm in the UK and I'm American, I usually order from Vitacost or Swanson. I've been reading about hefty customs fees lately but I'm starting to think that when comparing prices, still comes up better to order American. But then you have to take in consideration shipping times. Curious what you decided to do. Thanks!
crazyforlatin
Hi, Did you ever order your supplements? I'm in the UK and I'm American, I usually order from Vitacost or Swanson. I've been reading about hefty customs fees lately but I'm starting to think that when comparing prices, still comes up better to order American. But then you have to take in consideration shipping times. Curious what you decided to do. Thanks! We decided to order from the UK, places such as http://www.vitaminsuk.com/ and http://www.bigvits.co.uk/postage.asp. The shipping is fast within the UK. A Vitacost rep told us that customs could hold packages for 2 months. iherb.com rep said the same thing and will not reimburse for discarded vitamins by customs. It is more expensive to buy vitamins in EU but you would avoid customs and the possible long wait. There are other places in The Netherlands, but that's farther from you. There is a Swanson distributor in the EU, http://www.healthmonthly.co.uk/index.php. Also, if you have a family member or friend send you a package from the US using USPS 3-4 day express service, which costs about $50 for anything less than one pound, you could be waiting for the package for weeks. Most of these places allow you to put in special orders.
