Pray! Chant! Light incense! Do a rain dance!

We have an opportunity to purchase 50 acres nearby for half of the cost of our far-away 11 acres we've been trying to wiggle out. Everything about this property looks awesome, except for the obvious flaw which has driven the price down so much, but that particular flaw is a non-issue for us because of what we want the land for. So this is really an ideal opportunity. I just made an offer. Cross your toes for us, or something, please!

I hope it works out for you!!! Fifty acres -- I can't even imagine! Are you setting up yurts or buying goats? ;)

If we get all fifty acres, quite probably both. :D We'll be sure to set up a luxurious guest yurt so everyone on this forum who sends us getting-the-property energy will always have a vacation spot in the Adirondacks.

Woo hoo, I am one of the lucky, in return , I will give you vaca rights in Mt. Shasta area. Right now you can tent. No yurt.

We'll be sitting here, body parts crossed and losing circulation while we wait!! :tongue_smilie:

But (and you must know I have to ask!) what's the flaw, and how's it a non-issue? (It's killing me!!)

And FINALLY someone beats me to it

And what are you going to use the land for?

Bill (who does not enjoy being in suspense...but is rooting for you :D)

Oh. It has power lines in the back, and utility company access road splitting that part off the main bit, in the front. We have been looking for ten acre lots at the same cost, and this is fifty, and so having fifteen acres in the back that we can't use will be so not an issue. If we wanted all fifty acres, though, that would stink. But the power line drives the price down significantly and would give us a nice big border between us and neighbors, a permanent wild spot.

I'm going to use the land for my sanity as an extreme introvert. I know that sounds selfish and horrid, but we work from home or travelling all over the state, so it's not like we're going to be making a daily commute. I'm delighted with the idea that no one will want to come near us because of the power lines.

We'll have a big garden and some chickens, but we can do that on two or three acres. The rest is just blessed margin.

Oh, that looks like fun!!! We got a deal on our house because techincally it was totalled from a hurricane. A tree fell on it, but the damage had been repaired. Their loss was our gain, but it's nice to find something that no one else wants and be excited about it. Still crossing my toes, fingers, etc.

The waiting is the hardest part.

Yes. My partner-in-anxiety, my eight-year-old, is away for the night at Saille's son's Viking party. My partner-in-finances is out of town for a family function. They torment me with a "probably" while I am stuck at home with sleeping babies and no one to send across the street for chocolate! I'm so grateful that I have iFriends.
