Aurelia
I'm starting to plan out history and literature for DD's 5th/6th grade year. I'm struggling a little bit because a lot of the grammar stage recommendations are or will be too simple, and I'm afraid a number of the logic stage materials would be beyond her, but I want to get a start on collecting things, since I tend to buy everything used, piecemeal. What you consider the best, most awesome, beloved, not-to-be-missed books (both fact and fiction), videos, projects, etc. for the time period for a 10-11 year old? At this point, my extremely tentative list consists of: Island of the Blue Dolphins The Witch of Blackbird Pond Kidnapped Rip Van Winkle (I definitely need more stories from other parts of the world.) P.S. Please let me know if you recommend a book as a reader for the student, or to be read to her.

kristi26
I put together History plans using SOTW3 on my blog here: http://themommywriter.blogspot.com/2013/04/free-charlotte-masonliving-bookshands.html That is a link for term 1. Terms 2 and 3 are also available (free, of course) if you click on the correct link on the right side under "Early American."
