avazquez24
I just received our BJU math materials for DS and DD (1st and 2nd) and was looking through the Teacher's Manual. I noticed there is a 'teacher material' section and 'student material' section in the manual. I already cut out all the student manipulatives, and so I'm guessing all the 'student materials' are included in the student manipulative book? I'm wondering about the 'teacher materials' though listed for each lesson....are those included in the student manipulative book, or are they items I'll need to get separately? If so, is there a list somewhere so I can be sure to get all needed materials? Secondly, I see for both 1st and 2nd grade Unifex Cubes are used....we're coming from MUS, so we have the MUS blocks.....would I be able to use the MUS blocks, or would it be better to use Unifix Cubes? The money part isn't an issue at all, so I don't mind purchasing some...I actually think I have some up in my 'math manipulative' bin in my closet (not sure how many are there since the kiddos used to always play with them)....If I should buy some Unifix Cubes instead, anyone know how many I'll need? ETA: I see in the TM for 'teacher materials' It will sometimes say 'chart' and give the number and name.....where do I get these charts from? Thanks! alisoncooks
You can buy the teacher's materials from CBD.com but boy! they're pricey (like $70, IIRC!). I think it's the same thing as the "Teacher's Visual Packet." We're currently finishing up BJU 1 but I've not purchased them. I've only just recently bought the student materials (and honestly, I prefer using my own "stuff" from my bin of math manipulatives). RE: unifix cubes -- I actually like them. We used them quite a bit when introducing addition/subtraction. I'm not familiar with MUS blocks, though.... I bought a basic package of Unifix cubes (maybe 100? 120?) and have never used them all at one time.
PeterPan
Haven't used that level, but sometimes there are masters in the back of the tm or on the cd. Check and see. Unifix cubes may also be used to show graphing. I don't know if BJU does, but if that's what they do with them, the MUS manips won't work. We love unifix cubes here. They turn into really nice guns. :D
avazquez24
Thank you both! With both of your responses I was able to find them:) Once I knew it was called 'teacher's visual packet,' I was then able to read and find out that's it's on the CD for home educators....yay! Oh, and thanks for the info regarding the Unifix Cubes....I'll go ahead and order some for us to use.
