Jane Elliot
Dd15 has extremely wide feet. The problem is compounded by some scarring she has from an injury on one foot. Where can I find shoes for her?
gardenmom5
online there are specialty shoe outlets. e.g. footsmart.com or wideshoes.com. one brand 2ds (who also has hard to fit wide feet) liked is propet. the walking company is iffy for me - and their selection of wide shoes isn't great. nordstrom is focusing more on fashion and less the shoe store they started out as - so I don't bother there much. REI has athletic type shoes and sandles.
mommymilkies
I have found Adidas as the best. Sometimes I use their shoes for men, too. I wouldn't order online, honestly. I have wide feet and every pair of shoes is so different. I've ordered a lot of wide shoes online that came nowhere close to fitting. Jan in SC
Zappos.com has tons of wide shoes. They also have free return shipping! I have ordered tons of stuff from it with no issues.
MFA323
I second the Zappos recommendation. You can order several for her to try on without having to pay for shipping. I order a lot of my wide shoes there. I usually order my kids' shoes there also.
Sharpie
Like previous posters, Zappos! I've sent orders back (free) with no problems!
klmama
Another vote for Zappos. The returns are easy and the refunds are quick.
JBJones
You might check ShoeBuy.
datgh
I have very wide feet so I can sympathize with your dd. I have found New Balance sneakers to be the best for me. I recently bit the bullet and bought a pair of Birkenstocks. They have a wide foot bed. First pair of sandals the sides of my feet haven't hung over on. They have some nice pairs of sandals now that don't scream granola and dreadlocks. They also have some nice clogs I think I might try in the fall. They aren't cheap but my friends who have them love them and say they last forever. The store I bought them at also said they can easily be resoled. pink&bluemommy
I like Birkenstocks and vivo barefoot.
Pawz4me
For athletic shoes I second New Balance. Their regular width shoes are roomier than most brands, as is the toe area. So I'm guessing their wide widths are pretty darn roomy.
Rebecca VA
Easy Spirit makes shoes in wide widths. They have a website you can order from. For boots or other non-feminine type shoes, you could shop the men's department.
abacus2
I second the Zappos and New Balance recommendations. Also consider looking at kids or mens wide shoes depending on the length of her foot. Kids sizes go up to 6 which is about a womens 8. New Balance makes super wide shoes. My husband wears a New Balance 11.5 4E, but in other brands he has to go up to a size 13 or 14 to be able to get them on.
Luanne
I have wide feet. I've never heard of Zappos, but New Balance aren't even wide enough for me. Currently I am wearing Sketchers. They make the white ones in wide sizes. They are very comfortable.
gingersmom
Another vote for new balance. My son wears a triple E. LL Bean also sells shoes in wide widths. My son has needed a wide width since his first pair of shoes.
Cafdog
Fitflops run wide, and are really comfortable.
Mrs Mungo
I vote go to a running store. They will give her solid info on what will and will not work for her feet. For example, I can't wear New Balance because my instep is too high. They are too tight across my foot and it has nothing to do with the *width*. Jane Elliot
Thanks for all these recommendations. I do go to a running store for my dc's running shoes because they run long distance races. We've always been able to find running shoes. (She wears New Balance, so I know everyone who recommended that knows what they're talking about. :-) It's been near impossible to find anything semi-dressy for her to wear in her brother's wedding, and our only criteria is that they need to be brown, tan, or nude. We've shipped a lot of shoes back to Zappos and Shoebuy because they're never wide enough, even the extra wide ones. Flip-flops are always a problem, too, so I will be looking into the Fitflops that were recommended. Thank you so much, all of you, for your helpful advice! abacus2
Would these work? They come in extra extra wide (4E).
Laura Corin
I've had luck with Lands' End - they have wide sizes and I can often get things on deep discount (I like New Balance too). L

I have wide feet and a high instep. It makes finding comfortable shoes very difficult.
