Kfamily
I started looking for more books for this topic. My younger dd is a strong reader and I know that your son is older and also a strong reader, so these resources might be more helpful... :) http://www.amazon.co...=marine biology http://www.amazon.co...=marine biology http://www.amazon.co...=marine biology These look good. I'll have to look at The Sea Around Us and Sea Change: A Message of the Oceans, but I think these may work for her. ETA: Here is a thread I found with some good suggestions too: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/247460-living-book-marine-biology-suggestions-please/
HollyDay
Someone in my Charlotte Mason circle recently mentioned Queen's Summer by the Sea. I think you can view samples online at Queen Homeschool or Rainbow Resource......

lewelma
I have no books to recommend, but my older ds did an oceanography investigation last year and learned so much!! The hands on nature and required problem solving were invaluable to his understanding of the topic. You probably have already seen it, but here's the link if you haven't: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/361740-scientific-inquiry/ Ruth in NZ

Poke Salad Annie
Sorry to bring up this topic so late, but I had a couple of ideas to add. Have you looked at The Boy Who Sailed Around the World Alone by Robin Graham? This is the young person's version of the book, Dove. One more thing I had in mind was anything by Jacques Cousteau. I have one of his books, The Silent World. Oh, a couple of more things..... * Our Living World of Nature, Life of the Ocean * The JASON Project

Halcyon
Thank you for all these suggestions. We are doing OM 6 Science, but it isn't time consuming, so I think I am going to start reading and having him read some of these books beginning next week.
