Jean in Newcastle
Hello Everyone. Today we're having a showing of "Robin Hood: Men in Tights". Dh and Ds15 think it is hilarious. Dd and I put up with it. Do any of you like parodies and spoofs? What ones? Today's totally random question: Who is your favorite singer(s)? Mrs Mungo
The thing about spoofs? They are most funny when you are familiar with the originals. So, Kill Bill is not really funny unless you have seen a lot of Samurai movies. Have you seen The Court Jester with Danny Kaye? It is a hilarious spoof on some of those same types of movies. Galaxy Quest is a funny spoof of sci-fi shows. But, I do not find it as funny when they are trying too hard to be a spoof instead of writing a decent story line. Jenn121
I like Robin Hood: Men in Tights (Tight tights!) My DH tolerates it. I liked Top Secret with Val Kilmer (spoofing the 50's-60's singer) movies. I have to many fav singers to pick one.
Robin M
Space Balls is our favorite spoof. Favorite singer? Hmm! Have to say Ella Fitzgerald. I'm more into old stuff and instrumental type music such as John Lee Hooker, Spanish guitar and Pat Metheny.
Jean in Newcastle
Robin - you sound like you have similar tastes in music to my own. I'm pretty eclectic, though. Men in Tights was a bit more raunchy than I remember it being. I think that is because the last time I watched it was not with kids so I wasn't thinking about content! There are lots of genuinely funny parts though.
Kim in Appalachia
I love Men in Tights. It just makes me laugh. I usually enjoy spoofs. Loved Space Balls. Favorite singer......ever??? Don't know. Right now I might say Adele. She has amazing pipes. I also always love Cindy Lauper. There is something about her voice.
whitestavern
Haven't seen Robin Hood, Men in Tights, but do love spoofs :) I love all music, but my favorite artist would probably be Frank Sinatra. DH calls Frank, and other artists of his day, sandpaper music. It just smooths everything out. It's our happy hour music.

Seasider
About to start Moonrise Kingdom. Sting. Mac Powell. It's a tie.
PeacefulChaos
I'm not a big spoof fan. TBH, I'm not a big fan of anything comedic lol... Idk, I guess I don't have much of a sense of humor? :D I'd rather watch action or sci-fi any day. :) I vaguely remember seeing Space Balls, but I don't really remember it well... :p Current favorite singer(s)... huh. Well, I've been on a K-pop kick for the last several months and I love 2pm and some other groups/singers. Adele has some awesome pipes though, too, as someone else said. I've always been a sucker for Maroon 5 (I actually really like Adam's voice, not just looking at him  ...which seems to be the trend!) Seasider
Sea Sider - We've been on a The Police binge lately. Fun! I like The Police, but I especially like Sting's early solo stuff. I enjoy reading the lyrics and understanding the history and political views he expressed. I just love his voice. And his hometown is the same as an old flame of mine.
