Mommy7
I saw on the website that it takes 15 mins. two times a week. Is that for the DVD portion alone or does that time cover everything? I would love to hear from someone who has used it. Thank you so much!

Kuovonne
I used it a bit differently. I had my kids watch the videos every day until they knew all the countries in the continent. Each day I'd have them point out all the countries they remembered, and then I'd pick up with whatever countries came next. I'd say the whole process was 15-30 minutes per day for a couple of weeks. (It could take a while to review all the countries near the end.) We never watched only a single lesson at a time. We usually watched all the videos for a pictography in one sitting. After we finished a continent we'd take a break for weeks or months before doing the next continent. I tended to use it over the summer and long holidays when I wanted some lighter academic content. My kids were six and eight at the time. Older kids could go through it much faster.
Mommy7
Thank you, Kuovonne. When I spoke with the company, they said that it depended on my goals. In other words, is it my goal for my dc to draw the world? I would love for my older dc to do that. What is that part like? You probably didn't do that part because your dc were so young at the time. I'm just wondering how that part is implemented. They said 30 mins. 3 times a week if it is my goal for them to draw the world...or 15 mins. 2 times a week if it is not. Does that sound doable? I just wanted my kids to know the names and locations of all the countries.
Mommy7
That is really what I want, too. I didn't even know that drawing the world was an option. I guess I'll just look at it when I get it and see what that part is about. I was asking about the time element because I am trying to be realistic about making sure we have the time in our schedule to do it, kwim? It *is* expensive, so I don't want to waste that money. atozmom
I LOVED the looks of this at the convention but just couldn't get past the price. If i had the budget for it i would have bought it for sure. Please keep us updated as you use it.
JenC3
I thought it looked great, but the sticker price is too much. We went with EH's Mapping the World with Art and I'm so thrilled with my preview of it thus far. I'm complementing the study with the game Where in the World? and two card games (Africa, Asia) from World Wise. I bought all the games on sale so our total geography curriculum was around $55. If all you want is for your kids to memorize the locations of all the countries, it won't take much time at all. When you get the DVDs you can find a viewing pace that suits your family: daily, twice weekly, or marathon sessions. However, I think one of the best parts of VWG is how little time it takes. I agree that VWG is really expensive, especially if you calculate the $ per minute of usage. Most of us don't want to spend a lot of money on a program that is used for a very short period of time. I was lucky that DH was okay with the expense. Instead of thinking of how much I was spending per minute of usage, I think of how much time I was saving versus trying to get my kids to memorize the info using some other method. VWG was worth it for us, because my kids learned *all* the countries, extremely *quickly*, with almost *no effort* on my part.
