The Crazy 4
So we joined Classical Conversations for the next school year, DD will be in 6th, the foundations and essential programs. We are very excited, except for one thing the writing program, they use IEW. We were having a hard time with writing, but now in our 8 week of WWS1, its like something clicked and we are BOTH enjoying it and getting it. (thanks to this forums encouragement). I don't think we can do both, or CAN I? How much time does the writing class take? We will be using IEW Medieval History Writing. And when we start the IEW classes she will be in her 15th week of WWS. Should we finish WWS along side the IEW, or just take a break till the IEW ends? thanks for the Help. Kathie in VA
This is why we didn't do the Essentials prgm when we did Classical Conversations ... IEW is not a fit for me or my kids. I think doing both your programs might be too much. You may need to choose. :crying:

I think doing both your programs might be too much. You may need to choose. :crying: I agree. My seventh grader could not have done both at the same time. I wouldn't try it unless you have a super strong, loving writing kid. Even then it would be overkill. I have used both and like both. What you could do easily, however, is use WWS on weeks that you are off from CC (about 12, right?) You could eveb do the Day 1 and Day 2 exercises during CC weeks and save the Day 3 and 4 exercises for the off weeks.
The Crazy 4
I REALLY want to do WWS and even Rod and Staff English, but I guess am going to have to compromise is some subjects. I think but just thinking or wanting to still do WWS on breaks. I think am just going to try it this coming year and see how it goes. I was set on doing the WTM suggestions all the way through HS, but I really need to get involved in something outside of home and this is classical ed, so will see. I don't know if we will do the Challenge programs since I will have to compromise more. At least I think!!
Omma
I also have been doing WWS with my dd, and she prefers this to IEW. Nevertheless, I am going to have her do the IEW lessons while we are in session with CC. Then we will use WWS all the other weeks, as someone else has mentioned. Hopefully, we will finish both by the end of the school year, as we are on week 17 now. I can say that I am a bit sad that we will have to do it this way, but the other perks of CC outweigh this one negative for our family. My ds will be doing Challenge A, so I will get to see how the Lost Tools of Writing work out for him and then will likely just continue it with my dd the following year.
