Jenny in Atl
I heard about this on NPR this afternoon. What an amazing camp. I wish we had the funds to send the kids. My youngest would be in heaven. Tinkering School
Stacia
I missed that on NPR today. That sounds so cool. My ds would love it -- wish we had the funds too. He didn't like Jr. Lego League as much as I thought he would. He thought it was too restrictive when he really wanted to use his imagination & own ideas even more. Tinkering school sounds like a perfect environment for him.
Jen500
This is right up dh's and ds's alley!
elegantlion
We heard that too! Now dh wants to start a tinkering school at our house. :001_huh: He said we have the yard and he has the power tools. I told him he could start with our ds. We have the perfect yard for a child made zip line. :tongue_smilie: Jenny, just send those dc down this way. If they start with the boat project we'll simply remind them that the river down the road has alligators. :D
Jumping In Puddles
Tinkering School is a great idea, I'm glad my dh builds things/tinkers with my kids! In this thread is the warning labels that should come with toys (courtesy of Tinkering School) and in that thread is the link to a video presentation (TED) from the guy who runs the school. Interesting stuff!
