DawnM
I am looking at the Great Courses website. The course I am looking at offers DVDs or CDs. What does that mean? Does that mean you can get the audio and video for DVDs but only the audio for CDs or is the CD thing a digital CD that can play video as well? Thank you, Dawn PS: One more question. Can you order the workbooks/guides separately so you could have one for each student instead of only the copy that comes with it????? DawnM
If this belongs in the High School Curr board please move it. I wasn't even thinking about where it should go when I posted.
TravelingChris
The cd's are audio only. The DVDs have a video of the lecturer speaking and any experiments, maps, slides, etc. he/she shows.
Mrs Mungo
I agree with what has been said so far. None of the guides I have received are something you would need per student. They are more like little booklets than the sort of workbook or activity guide you might be used to in other curricula.
DawnM
Thank you. I was looking at the Civil War DVD lecture series. I have the Algebra one and the workbook was an actual workbook, so I wasn't sure if this one would be as well or not. The Algebra one did NOT work for us. :glare: But that has more to do with the student than the series.

All of those booklets are more like course outlines with a little bit of history and such.
EmilyK
When you say you can download it as many times as you need, is there a time limit? Some courses have a lot of images that the lecturer refers to. There is usually a little box on the course info page (which I haven't seen lately so maybe they changed it) that will tell you which would be the preferable format. I think a lot of the WTMers just get the audio version and play it in the car or mp3 players. If you get the digital version, you can choose what format you want to download it. Audio iTunes = m4b Windows Media Player = mp3 Video iTunes = m4v Windows Media Player = wmv You can download them as many times as you need, can burn them to disc and change the format, so I wouldn't worry too much about the format. If you get the digital version, the guide comes as a PDF. You might be able to ask customer service if you can order an extra copy or just get a digital version for the other student. Their customer service has always been really helpful to me.
