Overwhelmed by Encyclopedia Recommendations

Recommended Posts

The only encyclopedias I have so far are the Usborne book of World History (it's an "older" book), Usborne First Encyclopedia of Space, and 1st encyc. of our world.

We're using SOTW and will be doing vol. 2 in the fall. We'll also be using Elemental Science Earth/Astron.

For long term purposes, which Encyclopedias do you all like? For example, for SOTW, which encyclopedias are the "better ones" out of the 4 listed in the Activity book?

Why would you/did you choose one over another?

I personally like the red KHE because it's the "meatiest" in terms of content. However, my kids are early/strong readers and many elementary kids would likely find the KHE too challenging until later on in the elementary years.

How is the "red" KHE different than others? Is it better than the more recent editions?
