Chicago hotel/food recommendations

We're going to be spending a Friday night in Chicago in a few weeks and need a hotel to sleep in for a night, preferably somewhere south/southwest of the city along I-55.

I'm looking for someplace that has a 2-bedroom suite with fridge. We'll have 3 adults/2 kids and need to bring some of our own food, especially for breakfast. Suites work best, and tend to be cheaper than getting two connecting rooms, but we could go that route if needed.

Also, any recommendation on a place for gluten-free people to eat lunch the next day near the aquarium or Museum of Science & Industry? Thanks!

It's a little south of the museums, but really close to the el. We loved Waffles. They do breakfast and lunch and have really yummy gluten free waffles. http://waffleschicago.com/

Sorry, can't help with hotel recs. We've only stayed north of and in the city - I'm scared of the south side because I know there are some really bad neighborhoods, and I'm never sure where they start/end.

Ooh, Waffles looks tasty. Now if I could convince DS3 that a waffle is just a pancake with squares on it, he might eat it! Thanks for the rec!

It's weird, the shady parts of St. Louis are on the north side, and I always forget that Chicago is the other way around.
