hsmom27
My DS has autism and very limited verbal skills, but he is doing remarkably well with the whole GWG, WWW, SWS series. Now he's getting ready to work on reading comp. but just asking him the questions I ask my other kids will not work. Plus, I'd like something that starts very simply, like a couple weeks on sequencing, picking out main characters, etc... He's very visual and handles workbooks well. Anything like this out there? Thanks.
TraceyS/FL
There are a bunch of choices on Scholastic - and darn it, you just missed a dollar days sale on a good chunk of them! I haven't had a chance to go thru what I picked up yet, so I can't comment on what to buy or not. But I got books on Inferences (DDs topic in language therapy right now), main ideas, summarizing and so on. I was looking at the 4-5th grade level, but they have different age groups. http://teacherexpress.scholastic.com Actually, they still have the Dollar Days stuff up - so go see if they are truly a $1 and shop now!!!! LynnG in Arizona
Try Evan Moor's "Daily Reading Comprehension". You can use it as is, as a workbook, but there are also 1-paragraph daily lesson plans for the teacher that contain a bit of direct instruction. HTH. :)
