OrganicMom
I gave my daughter the placement test and she missed 1-3 more than she needed to be suitable for PZ A and they recommended AAS... I keep trying to restart AAS 3 since we stopped at step 11 a few months ago - is there a way to make it super simple and quick from this point on... is it absolutely necessary to complete it before Phonetic Zoo A? please tell me there is another way! ;) haha has anyone still begun Phonetic Zoo anyway? OrganicMom
I spoke with rep from IEW and they said if my daughter was probably a year older and had gone through most of level 3 and she learns spelling easily, which she does, then it would be fine. I am going to wait a year and find a way to half pace or quarter pace the remaining level 3 spelling....
amyrobynne
I'd guess that if you just start PZA, it might take longer to pass each lesson, but she's probably close enough if AAS is miserable for both of you. Isn't there an online spelling program where you can make your own lists? Maybe SpellingCity? You could make lists of the remaining AAS3 words and plow through them that way if you wanted to make sure she knew them.
OrganicMom
oh, i didn't even think of spelling city! great idea! :D I totally tried it and it worked beautifully that way.... BUT all this to say and try to decide over and I think I am actually just going to stop at step 11 and wait 6 months - a year and focus on some other skills and put time other places b/c she is so far ahead in spelling and it comes so naturally to her. I've been stripping our days down to the barest of bones... :D it is a good feeling... so we have time to just be. and read more, and have structure but some freedom and ex hails within that structure... (preventing burnout) :)
