IHaveNoIdeawhatIAmDoing
My daughter is 5 and has been doing Kindergarten work for about 3 months. She's almost done with the Math-u-see primer and I really don't know what to do now. Is it too early to start her on Alpha? Is it too early to start her on Math Mammoth Grade 1? And how do I go about combining these 2 programs? Thanks!
classicmommy
My daughter (5 in two weeks) is just about done with MM 1A. And we just started MUS Alpha. They work perfect together and she loves both. She is pretty "mathy" though. I am just going straight though both. We do math 6 days a week and rotate back and forth. We use the MUS blocks with everything. KimberlyI
My daughter is 5 as well and will be starting MUS Alpha along with MM soon. We did not do MUS primer. I have not combined these particular levels but for my 4th grader doing MUS Delta along with MM I went according the the MUS order. She watched the MUS lesson, did the practice, then did the corresponding MM pages. Since MM covers more than MUS there were topics that didn't fit that plan. I just assigned them over the course of the year. We like how Mr. Demme introduces a concept and gave her confidence to begin something new. Then she was ready to go a bit deeper with MM. Also, for 5 year old there are so many wonderful math games. They're a great way to get more practice and discuss the concepts and learn new things. My children have all enjoyed Right Start Math Card Games. They have definitely been worth the money for us. They also have enjoyed Sum Swamp. IHaveNoIdeawhatIAmDoing
Thanks, guys! I am absolutely going to buy Sum Swamp. My daughter has just started getting into card games (uno, go fish) so I was planning on getting a game that would specifically help with addition. :)
