Xuzi
Paging Dr. Hive!!! I forgot to turn off our glass-top stove, and DS4 (who is always climbing on things he shouldn't) stepped on it and burned the sole of his foot. I've put some cooling burn gel on it and wrapped it in gauze (after soaking it in cold water for a while). I've also given him a dose of children's tylonol for the pain. Have I done all that can be done, or should I take him into the ER? Is there more the Drs there could do for him? His heel looks like just one big blister, but the blister is intact. amo_mea_filiis.
I'd personally take him because of the location.
Truscifi
Blistering on the bottom of his foot? I'd probably take him, though I might try the doc instead of the ER during the day. Especially if he is in pain - they can give you better stuff than you can get OTC. When ds9 was around that age he burned his hand on the stove and the ER sent us home with this amazing cream that numbed the area as well as treating the burn. Also, because of his age, he is unlikely to understand the need to stay off it and protect it until it heals some. The doc may have some sort of boot or something to protect it. Starr
Yes, he needs to go to the doctor or ER. Burns can get easily infected and the doctor can prescribe ointment that will heal sooner. I'm so sorry. I had a little friend that had a hot coffee burn on the top of his foot. His family waited a few days and it had to be scrubbed out in the ER. Ack! :grouphug:
Guest inoubliable
I'd definitely take him in to the pediatrician to get some medicated burn cream.
jenn-
I agree with everyone else. Head to the doctor.
Jean in Newcastle
I'd go to urgent care instead of the ER if your pediatrician can't fit him in.
