Parrothead
Well, I've finally found a doctor to try. I'm a bit excited as this doctor is big into alternative treatments. He is a functional medicine doctor. His website says he prefers to get to the root cause of the problem if at all possible, not just treat with drugs to mask symptoms. I have a grand total of 9 things wrong with my physical health. How goofy would it be to come in with a list of problems, past treatments, side effects, etc? If I do it I'm thinking 2 copies so we can review the list together. What says The Hive? Over the top?
JudoMom
Absolutely do it. Every good doctor I've ever seen has appreciated information like this. It's especially helpful if you're dealing with non-textbook illnesses/issues. For two years I kept a diary of ds10's symptoms before he was diagnosed, and I printed it and took it to every specialist we saw. I also get copies of any labwork/test results and keep those in the same file and take them to new doctors.
Arcadia
I had done that when we relocated here. I had a thick stack of medical history and we went over that with my obgyn. It is not over the top and makes the doctor's job easier.
Hockey Mom
I don't think so. In fact, I think it's a great idea. 13 years ago, when Dh and I were ttc, I tracked ovulation, took temps, tracked...um...everything. After a m/c and 14 months of trying to get pg, I made an appointment, printed out my binder of data, and handed it over to the doctor. He gave me the right prescription to assist my body with ovulation, and two months later I was pg with DS10. I'm a big believer of bringing your own data with you. I think it makes you an active participant in your healthcare.
