moonlight
How would you do US History with a rising 5th grader in one year?
Alte Veste Academy
Hakim's History of US on audio with WTM style mapwork/timeline and supplemental literature, biographies, and non-fiction.
Candid
I don't know about Hakim on audio but doing her whole series in print in a year would be a ton of reading even for a middle school student much less a fifth grader.
Lily_Grace
I'd pick a lesson a week from mrdonn.org and supplement with mapwork and statework as necessary.

Yes, I would not recommend the print version in one year for a 5th grader, unless the child was a voracious reader and lover of history. The audio version, however, is a jewel, a real pleasure to listen to. My DS10 has listened over and over, for pleasure, most of the time while assembling Legos, working on puzzles, etc.
tammyw
I'd also love to know if anyone has a list of dvds/movies, for this age range!
loftmama
We love Liberty's KIds on DVD. My boys have watched it over and over and over...
moonlight
Thanks! The Hakim books look like too much to read in one year...will look into the audio version..
