ScoutTN
You have a busy day, Jean! How are you feeling this week? It's hot, summer hot, here today. Hope you have cooler than our 88 for mowing! We did school this morning and I'm taking the kids to their last day of PE at the YMCA early this afternoon. Cleaning bathrooms and general tidying while they're gone. We'll make the Dal recipe from SOTW 2 later this afternoon to finish up the lesson in Moghul India. Early dinner b/c DS has a soccer game at 6pm. Then baths and bed. I need to do VBS prep work and re-register kids for our umbrella program for the coming school year tonight.
Jean in Newcastle
I was feeling fine until dinner last night when I forgot that the chili peppers in the steak rub I used on my steak were nightshades. I've been avoiding nightshades to find out if that would make a difference to my pain levels. I was in really bad pain afterward, so I think I have my answer. Mom in High Heels
Nightshade? Really? That's interesting. I did get stuff done today, but I don't feel like I accomplished anything. Does that make sense? Done: Exercise!!!! Read about 10 books to Han Solo (he flips the pages faster than I can read, so I make up a story as I go that sort of matches the pictures) B'fast Swept and mopped kitchen (AGAIN) Swept and mopped back hall and Han Solo's room Swept kid's bath School Went to the Pflanzenhaus (literally plant house) to get flowers for our stairwell for spring clean up (each stairwell gets a 50 Euro voucher for Pflanzenhaus to make our area pretty) Post Office Set up a sleep over for Indy this weekend (I happened to see his friend's mom in PO) Lunch School More freaking paperwork for the new cars (I swear the process overseas is a PITA) <-oh, and yes, carS with an S James Bond and I are both getting new cars! We owed nothing on his, and the dealer offered us $12K for it! It's 6 years old, but only has 24K miles on it and is in perfect shape. We're putting the money toward his new car. We should get them tomorrow. Maybe. If customs doesn't throw us another curve. We signed contracts on these car 2 weeks ago, but still don't physically have them because of paperwork. It's making me :cursing: Planted my little flower garden out by the stairwell door and some large pots for the corners of our sidewalk entry Planted the balcony boxes for my balcony and got them hung (without dropping one over the edge like I did last year :hurray: ) Watched some TV and read some of my current read during "mommy time" Dinner Cleaned kitchen, loaded dishwasher and ran it Worked on the last chapter of my ff story (ch 22 IIRC) My day is D-O-N-E! Done I tell you!

Mom in High Heels
WHY can't the kitchen ever stay clean?
joannqn
I woke up sore from yesterday. I cleaned up dinner dishes (we often leave them for the morning in favor of watching TV together) and cleaned the counters. Made lunch. Cleaned the floor after dropping a glass jar of ranch dressing. Started a load of laundry. Spent an hour online looking for lettering for a display board in red. Took DD13 to the school supply store to buy red letters; bought blue and white striped letters instead. Took DD13 undie shopping. Now I'm waiting for my tutoring student to arrive. ScoutTN
WHY can't the kitchen ever stay clean? Entropy is the nature of the fallen universe! Sorry about your painful discovery, Jean! Stay away from those tomatoes and eggplant! What else is in the nightshade family? All peppers? Potatoes?
Jean in Newcastle
[/size] Entropy is the nature of the fallen universe! Sorry about your painful discovery, Jean! Stay away from those tomatoes and eggplant! What else is in the nightshade family? All peppers? Potatoes? All of the above. And I read somewhere goji berries are too. Not sure if that was accurate, though. I'll have to check. It's not the kind of thing I would normally eat but I see it as the flavor- du- jour lately so I suppose I'd better check. We just got done with math. No blood was shed.
Jean in Newcastle
Sigh. I just had to throw out the really yummy recipe of Korean short ribs that have been marinating for 2 days, because I found them sitting in a pyrex dish in the oven instead of the freezer where I thought I had put them. . . Double sigh. Running to the grocery store for a last minute substitution.

joannqn
Well, my day got derailed a bit. Found out a friend wasn't feeling well, so I picked her daughter up to come play with DD3. Then I made dinner and I'm off to boy scouts in a few.
