Forget-Me-Not
So we are planning a trip to Disneyland with our kids this coming autumn and we are kicking around the idea of spending the extra money and staying on site (last time we wished we had). We have 4 children, but the youngest is a baby who will be in a pack-n-play. Everything I'm looking at tells me max occupancy is 5 and it won't even let me look at hotel prices unless I agree to multiple rooms. I'm going to call them directly and ask, but I'm wondering if anyone has been able to have a family of six in ONE room at one of the Disney hotels? Punchie
We're tentatively planning on going this September (5 ppl), and if we do, we'll stay off site at one of the hotels across the street from the park entrance. Last time, we stayed at the Tropicana and it took us less than 5 minutes to walk to DL.
Forget-Me-Not
Yes, we stayed at the Tropicana last time too. It was okay, but for a number of reasons, we wished we had stayed inside the park and are considering doing so this time around. I'm mainly wondering if anyone has talked one of the Disney hotels into letting them have 6 people in a room, when one of those is a baby in a pack-n-play. applethyme
I seem to recall reading that the Art of Animation rooms hold up to 6 people.

AnIslandGirl
Although you can't book it on the main page, you can book 6 to a room through the ticket reservation site: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/buy/ Our favorite is the Grand Californian signature and artisan suites. They are fairly roomy, and they'd certainly accommodate a larger family. They offer 2, 3 and 4 bedroom options depending on your preference. Otherwise, two standard rooms may be a cheaper option. Have fun! The 'no more than 5 to a regular room' is a fire code regulation due to the small square footage of the standard rooms. Unfortunately Disney has no legal way to get around it. Dahliarw
Occupancy maximums are based on local codes. Personally, I would just book for 5 and bring your own pack and play. More than likely they won't even notice. And since baby doesn't need a ticket or anything it's not a huge deal. Once she's 3 then you'd have to book 2 rooms. We stayed on site once (Disneyland Hotel) and it was SOOOOO nice. Pricey, but nice. We loved the early entry and the back entrance to DCA. Plus we paid extra for a higher floor room with theme park view and could watch the fireworks from our room, and they have the music on the TV in the room that goes along. Yeah, it was kind of torturous walking past the entrance to the Grand Californian and knowing we still had a 15 minute walk back to the hotel, LOL. DH and I were like, Uh. . . why didn't we stay here? I thought about just booking for 5 since we'll be bringing the bed for the baby. I just never can figure out if that's kosher or not, KWIM? Plus we'll be paying extra for a roll-away bed anyway, and I didn't know if there would be ROOM for a P-n-P on top of the extra bed in the room. Dahliarw
At least at the disneyland hotel, the 5th bed is a couch that flips over into a bed. No rollaway needed. I don't know about the Grand Californian. The rooms are quite large at DLH. We often took the monorail between the hotel and park. :)
Ellie
We often took the monorail between the hotel and park. :) That's the best part about staying at the Disneyland Hotel. :-) Well, ok, other than the fact that it's the DISNEYLAND Hotel!! :001_wub: :001_wub: :001_wub: We love Disneyland. :-)

We stay at the Tropicana, too - and even when the website sea my desired rooms are sold out, a phone call to the desk and they have them. If you have AAA the travel agent there can get special deals, get your D'land tickets, etc. etc. (plus the kids then get a free phone call from any desired Disney character) etc.
