Alessandra
I want to buy some vanilla beans to make vanilla sugar. The ones at Amazon are much cheaper than the ones at Penzey's. I'd like to save $$, but don't want a bad product. Any opinions? http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dgrocery&field-keywords=vanilla+beans http://www.penzeys.com/cgi-bin/penzeys/p-penzeysvanillabeans.html FWIW, I am putting together a Penzey's order that would qualify for free shipping, & I have Amazon Prime -- so shipping costs would be free, whichever of these I chose. mandymom
I have the ones from Spicy World (purchased on Amazon), and they were good quality.

I bought these ones off Amazon and have been happy with them. I am glad to you like the beans you got from Amazon -- I will order one of these. I buy mine from saffron.com Wow! I love this site. Thank you for the recommendation -- I would love to use saffron more often, and this is affordable. I have saffron now, but when I need more, I will order saffron and vanilla here. Shipping is the same for a big bag of vanilla + some saffron, or just the saffron. I was surprised that they did not have Madagascar vanilla -- I'm not a vanilla expert, so I mean that as an observation, not as a criticism! Paintedlady
I bought these ones off Amazon and have been happy with them. This is where I buy mine from and they're always exellent quality. I purchased some from Penzeys in the past but they were more expensive & dried out than the others so now I stay with the ones from Amazon. plath
I seriously love the saffron and vanilla I got from saffron.com. They were super juicy and not dried out at all. I use them to make vanilla sugar and homemade vanilla extract, as well as in ice cream.

I have an order ready to go. In any case, I will not be buying the $5 jars of spices from the supermarket!

I use the Tahitian and the regular (cheapest) :) I use both interchangeably but he Tahitian is more floral.
