I thought someone put a lot of work into it. However, I also got bored with it and thought it was way too long for the final result. If you're going to take up that much of my time, at least pop me out a gift certificate or coupon for good chocolate!

This is pretty much what I thought as well. Too long. Too interactive with no benefit from doing so (just moves things along). And honestly, I like my kids art, but don't really want to see an adult's drawing made to look like a child's art work. I think they missed the mark with this one. (The Google page is also taking a long time to load for me, I don't know if it was a fluke or not, but I have been having to use Bing so I can search). Thanks for the sentiment Google, but I think you missed the mark on this one.

So much against it. Wow. It's just a simple google doodle that is intending the participant to receive a child-like piece of art at the end. I adore everything my children did for me, no matter how rough, unfinished, or "perfect" it was or was not. My mother still has things I made for her saved (complete with misspellings and all).

Am I missing something here? Why would anyone come to the conclusion that google "missed the mark" on this? What is "the mark" supposed to be other than Happy Mother's Day?

I guess I just don't understand why a person would want to print off and adore the art of an adult, made to look like a child's art with pinto beans and crayons. I think it is the adult trying to reproduce art to look like it was done by a child that bugs me. My own kid's art, sure it is on the fridge, a place of honor to appreciate and enjoy. Someone else's adult child, making kid-like crayon drawings....hmmm, no misses the mark with me. Other people's stick figure art doesn't make me nostalgic for my own children's art. Art is subjective and maybe there is an entire group of people out there who really enjoy other adult's stick figure, crayon and pinto bean art. For them, I am sure it is a great day to use Google. Please understand, I really don't care much about this. I was awake super early this morning, stuck in my bedroom with a computer, and had to stay quiet because family was asleep in the living room. I was wasting 2 hours on a Sunday morning so I made a poll to see if other's liked the Google or not. It was more of a curiosity than anything for me, to see if others enjoyed that style of project. I often find that when I don't understand a point of view on a topic, that if I come here, others will give me their opinion of the counter view and I come to understand the other side better.

See, I'm not looking at the style of it. I was looking at the gesture, which is why I wondered why so many were "hating" on it. The thought, you know? That's what I look at when I see the google doodles. I don't read too much into the style, don't really care one way either; I was just thinking of the thought--"what a cool thing to do for Moms out there". Oh as to why others might download and print this?

Perhaps you've never had a loved one locked away in a nursing home? The way I see it is that the staff could easily print these out and hand it out to the residents. Might not mean a hill of beans to you or I, but to them? I don't think they'd care one whit that it was an adult who did "child-like drawings". It's the thought and the elderly residents could see that. Sure, I suppose the staff could easily have their own kids make these things (my mom did with us), but truly there is sometimes a lack of that in nursing homes.

Anyway, that's just one example. I'm probably reading more into that as much as you are. The point for me was that it was just a thought--the thought in general, that counted. Nothing more.
