What age did you start MCT Island?

I started it this year, 3rd grade. We probably could have started last year in 2nd, but I wanted to hold off a year. And, no, there is no good reason for that, just my own personal preference. Dd would have done well either way.

I started my daughter in 4th grade, but that was only because we didn't purchase MCT until she was in the 4th grade (9 years old). She worked fast and completed all of Island and then she started Town. She's around the middle of Town right now and she'll hopefully finish it all towards the beginning of next year, and then she'll start Voyage.

With my DS, I didn't think to start him until 3rd grade, but he saw his sister doing the Island level and he wanted to try, so we started my DS at age 7, the beginning of his 2nd grade year. He is doing very well with it. I'm glad we decided to give it a try with him.

10 y.o. started mid-year 4th grade. She loves it, and I'm getting her the additional Mud books as an end-of-the-school-year "treat."

Younger child will do it in 2nd or 3rd - won't know until we get there!

We will be starting it the second half of third grade, DS is 8.5 We are doing Grammar-land the first half of third grade. Looking forward to it!

Maybe I should mention we don't actually own it yet...I'm looking forward to clicking that 'Order' button!

My eldest was 6 and my middle daughter was 4 (I am very impatient, and my 4 yo started school quite early). Keep in mind that both had already had some grammar background (my eldest had probably done one or two levels of GWG by then, for example). It's true that the 6 yo got much more out of it, but my 4 yo fell in love with SI and was in charge of identifying all nouns and verbs when we did PI. Now that we're in the Town level and they both have almost one level of KISS under their belt, they are equally adept at MCT's sentence analysis.
