Guest Ms.Lynch
Someone please give me some advice on this?
Blueridge
Bless your heart. I'm not a doctor but I have had personal success with drinking lots of water, cranberry capsules, garlic caps, and a goldenseal echinacea supplement, and I also ate lots of unsweetened yogurt. You might need an antibiotic, though. Feel better!
Hockey Mom
Go to the doctor right away. If it's an actual infection, you are past home remedies and will need an antibiotic to prevent the spread of infection to your kidneys. :grouphug: Feel better soon. Guest Ms.Lynch
I went to the doctor an took all my antibiotics and it cleared up but two weeks later it came back
JNW
Yes, get an antibiotic. There is also a prescription available called phenazopyrid. It elminates the pain until you can get to the doctor in case you ever happen to get a UTI on a week-end and don't want to go to an urgent care, or to end the agony before the antiobiotic kicks in. Hope you feel better!! ETA... You may need a different antiobiotic, as much as I hate being on them and it's not good for your system overall, it may be necessary. Mom in High Heels
Try AZO. It's available OTC and has knocked out my UTIs in a day. I always keep a box on hand just in case. I would probably still go to the doc if it's really bad, but the AZO will help with the pain and frequent urge to go.

JNW
If they keep coming back and antiobiotics don't seem to work, you may want to check into something called interstitial cystitis. The symptoms are very similar to those of a UTI. My doctor thought I might have it. I don't think I do, thankfully!
JNW
Also, I'm not sure if you're aware that some things you take can mask the UTI, so that when you go to the doctor, it won't show up as a UTI. So then it can be tricky trying to figure out if that's really what you have. And also, you probably know about probiotics but in case you don't I thought I'd mention it. Good luck! walkermamaof4
Mine came back. The first time it came back, I got another prescription. The 2nd time, I did a quadruple dose of d-mannose immediately, a triple dose later that day, and slowly decreased the dose, and took 1 dose daily for several more days. 1 dose after s*x, and a dose anytime I think there is any chance I might be getting one. So far so good!
gardenmom5
I use the cranberry pills - don't remember the name. last time, I was still in a lot of pain, so I went in. what happened was acid irritation from too much cranberry. there was NO infection (she did a culture), even though it was very painful. she had me drink water with baking soda to change the ph. JessReplanted
This stuff is amazing. It tastes terrible, but it really works. http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Answer-Ut-4-Ounce/dp/B001AIMOT6
