Acorn
I will be buying Level 1 through the sale at Homeschool Buyers Coop and am curious about lesson planning. What are some time estimates for each lesson? I want to plan for a weekly art block throughout the summer. Is two hours an estimate, or will I definitely need longer? This is replacing a week long day camp so I want to make sure the kids see it as a cool event on the calendar, iykwim.
Acorn
Does anyone use it more than once a week? Is that too much? I also want to make sure the kids have time for self-directed drawings.
queenie
My girls do a new lesson on Fridays and I just put all the materials in the middle of the table and hand my dd8 the remote control:) Once they have done a lesson they can redo it anytime during their free time they just can't do new lessons until Fridays. The have redone so many of the lessons and I love how easy it is. While they are doing art I am usually catching up on laundry.

How long do they spend on a lesson?
momto3innc
It varies. The lessons on the DVD themselves aren't that long, but we pause a lot if it's a step by step kind of lesson. Some lessons are better if you watch it all and then complete it. It just varies. Honestly, a lot depends on your kids and if they like to take their time...or rush. I have some of both :) My slow kids and my child who rushes all really really love it though. Many lessons have been done multiple times. We just are finishing level 2 and there is a big difference in their art from when we started. You could do more lessons a week for sure. We just try to spread them out but you could do as many as you wanted (and your kids wanted). My kids would love to do one everyday, but I want it to last a school year. queenie
Most of the time they spend close to an hour on a lesson especially if it involves paint. The shortest amount of time they have ever spent on a lesson was about 20 min. It is not uncommon for them to walk away from it and come back hours later and add more detail.
