Ravin
Can anyone recommend a music theory course? Inexpensive and independent would both be helpful; my own ability to read music is somewhat limited, but after a year of band DD hasn't progressed far at all--she's managed to be able to sort of work out what note is what, write the letters of the notes down, and memorize lines of music--not really reading the music at all. Her instrument is the flute, if it makes any difference.
Roadrunner
We are working through Julie Johnson's Basics of Piano Theory. We jumped straight into level 2 and I really like the program. The series has 10 levels + AP.
Ravin
Thanks for the suggestion. One problem is that we don't have a piano--DD has a keyboard but its electronics are messed up so it's not reliable to practice on at all. I might be able to find a decent keyboard secondhand, though...
