MelAR05
We will be attending my brother-in-law's Coast Guard retirement ceremony in a couple of weeks and are wondering what would be a good gift for the occasion. It can be a large gift ($200+ range) as there will be 4 families contributing. Thanks ladies!
maddykate
My suggestion would be to get him a really nice shadow box to hold his flag, medals, ribbons, and other military memorabilia. They can get quite pricey and come in all kinds of shapes, finishes, etc.
Mrs Mungo
I would say to purchase something he will enjoy in retirement. Does he golf? Camp? Scuba dive? Is there something he wants to pursue that he has not had time for up until now?
MelAR05
I love both ideas! Now to discuss with the siblings. Thank you!
WagsWife
I would check to make sure his Unit has not planned to present him with a shadowbox...or that he and his wife have not bought one themselves. In the AF, it is fairly standard to be given a shadowbox by your unit, co-workers, or sometimes picked out by the spouse. I had a specific one picked out for my husband, so I bought it...but his unit would have if I hadn't. I like the idea of getting something he would enjoy post retirement.
