avazquez24
Sorry, yet another question lol.....would love to hear your recommended book lists (maybe your dd/ds' favorites along w/ yours) for a 2nd grader (to read on their own out loud to me)......reading level about 2nd/3rd grade level. When I was younger I remember reading all the Ramona books (would need to look up the reading level of it), but that's all that comes to mind lol. We already have all the Magic Tree House books that dd and ds both love, so we've been using those as read alouds (since ds wants to hear them too). Aurelia
DD liked reading several of the Amelia Bedelia series, Frog and Toad, Ivy & Bean, and Clementine around that point. Oh, and Henry & Mudge. From there she moved on to reading picture book series, Madeline, Curious George, Eloise, etc., and several of Dick King-Smith's books like The Invisible Dog and The School Mouse. There's also Charlotte's Web, Betsy-Tacy, A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Boxcar Children and Laura Ingalls Wilder books.
Tanikit
I have used the Sonlight and HOD book lists for 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade with my DD as I know the stories interest her a lot.
Elfknitter.#
Surprisingly, ds has read aloud and enjoyed hearing Mary Pope Osborne's Odyssey series (6 books that are quick reads with large fonts.) He likes audiobooks too. Jim Weiss stories, Percy Jackson, and Sisters Grimm have been big hits.
