Incognito
My son LOVES Ninjago. He got the season 1 DVD set from a loving relative for Christmas. We don't do a lot of TV, but in the 4 months since receiving it, he has watched the series a few times. He plays it. He draws it. He makes poems about it. I am tired of it. I've tried filling his mind with other things - Greek Myths probably would have worked if I could have found a compelling DVD or action figure or something for him to grab onto when acting it out. I do not to forbid it - I have even been Sensei Wu more times than I can count. I didn't actually mind the story and stuff in the beginning. It's an interesting story. I can see why he loves it. But it has been 4 months of all day every day. If he were in school I'd get some hours off. When we do other things, he's always making connections about how it relates to Ninjago. It's like it's the timeline he's hung all his pegs on. Sigh. I want it to stop, but how? Help. Please. Someone. Help me.
Catwoman
Don't worry about it. Soon, he'll latch on to something else and drive you crazy with that, instead. Seriously! He's at an age where his interests are all-consuming. I know it's tough for you and that sometimes you probably want to pull your hair out, but if you can at least feign some interest in Ninjago, it's probably something he'll always remember you both "liking" together, and is a great way to bond over a common interest (even if you're mostly faking.) He will grow out of it, and one day a long time from now, you'll be cleaning out his closet and come across his long-abandoned Ninjago stuff... and not want to get rid of it because you'll have a sentimental attachment to it, and be nostalgic for when your ds absolutely loved it. :)

In the past year, or so, we've had non-stop until it just one day stopped: Skylanders Mario Power Rangers Skylanders Giants Club Penguin Any and all things in life can be equated in some way, shape or from to any and all of the above. Schoolwork, drawings, books we "must" buy or borrow from library, imaginative games, even clothes. Of course, I can equate many things in daily life in some way, shape, or form to an episode from Friends, so...
PrairieSong
Yep, he will most likely outgrow it and probably go on to another intense interest that drives you insane. If you don't want to forbid it, could you have him go elsewhere...his room, the basement, outside...when you are tired of listening to it? Sorry I'm not much help. {{{hugs}}}
mommymonster
DS7 and DS4 are both obsessed with Ninjago. And I *thought* it was the most annoying thing in the universe. I *thought* it was as bad as it could get (movies, books, homemade Ninjago costumes, BD party for the now 4-yr old...), and then the little one picked up a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle DVD at the library. After watching one episode of TMNT, I actually said, "Hey, who is up for an episode of Ninjago!?!?" And now I can live with Ninjago.
Incognito
Ok, thanks for the reality check. You're all right. It is cute and sweet that he often invites me to be a character. And it is better than TMNT. He saw some and thinks they're awesome too, but doesn't know much about them... Ninjago it is. I'll just keep hoping he doesn't talk about hypnotism, serpents, and being posessed too much around our more conservative friends. :)

I have no idea what Ninjago is but I'll have to find out. When our oldest daughter was in t-ball, Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles were all the rage. One team called themselves the Turtles so that was taken. Dd's team was the Mutants. :001_rolleyes:
