Aspasia
I seem to remember someone saying that they bought something at Home Depot that works like a whiteboard and it was WAY cheaper. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Murrayshire
We bought ours at Lowe's Home Improvement....spent under $20....measures 8' x 4'. Don't know the name of it but we got it in the bathroom wall panel section? I have a smaller one in my kitchen that my husband framed....our classroom board was too big to frame. It is heavy already so it would be much heavier with a frame. He put grommet holes along the top and screwed the board to the wall studs. You can check it out on our Schoolroom Page on our Blog..... Aspasia
Perfect! Thank you for the tip on mounting it to the wall. :) I guess it's called tileboard, or showerboard. http://kk.org/cooltools/archives/
Plink
In a pinch you can also just use your windows. I will sometimes place a piece of white poster board on the outside between the screen and the glass to make it easier to read.
Arboreal TJ
High gloss paint works great too. Use a magnetic primer before you paint and you can make a magnet dry erase wall!
Element
Piece of blank paper in a page protector works perfectly for mini boards.
Guest
We used to have some showerboard, (which is great, btw) but when we moved and I didn't want to hang it, we resorted to using our windows! They work great!
houseofkids&pets
I just bought the shower board from Home Depot over the weekend. It was near the lumber section, not the bathroom shower area. It is 8 X 4, but they cut it for me for free, so now I have two!! I think it was about $14. My kids love it.
LuvToRead
We bought ours at Lowe's. It was way in the back with the wainscoting. I think it was called marker board wainscoting, or something similar.
Vida Winter
We just bought The Noteboard on Amazon. It is a folding laminated whiteboard that fits in a pocket pouch (the pouch doubles as an eraser) and expands as it is unfolded. Nice idea. Lay it flat and kids can work math problems on it as they look on the computer screen. Time will tell if the novelty will wear off. I am thinking of taking it on the plane; you can unfold it just a little and it would fit on a tray table.
carriede
In a pinch you can also just use your windows. I will sometimes place a piece of white poster board on the outside between the screen and the glass to make it easier to read. Interesting concept! We have a big window right by our kitchen table. I'll have to remember this!
Dahliarw
Is the tileboard/showerboard magnetic?
Murrayshire
No, it is not magnetic.
trlt
I just bought one from Sam's for $17. It's a Quartet brand 23x36 inch magnetic whiteboard. It is really nice and sturdy/heavy duty and the other side is a cork board. I had to replace my old one (Board dudes brand) that was warping.
