GSOchristie
Or can I just rent it from Amazon? I feel like I definitely need the overhaul in my math thinking, but is this a book I am going to need past 90 days? I can read it several times and take notes during that time. Farrar
Do you mean the Liping Ma book? I would say rent. I bought it, read it, was glad I read it, and then have loaned it to various people. I never felt the need to reread it. But others may feel differently? Book rental, huh? I heard they were doing that, but that's the first book I've seen it for. Five More Minutes
Are you referring to Knowing and Teaching Elementary Mathematics by Liping Ma? If so, I'd say it can be borrowed or rented. The biggest benefit was the way it made me rethink math education, which then helped me make decisions about how we would "do math" around here. GSOchristie
Yes, that is the one. Good, it is only 8.62 to rent, and 24.99 to buy. Off to start reading :).
stripe
Alternatively buy the earlier edition, if you can get it for a few dollars.
UrbanSue
I found an earlier edition for $4, I think. So you might poke around on Amazon a bit.
Candid
Also, check your local library.
GSOchristie
Thanks, everyone, I just rented it. I might go find the earlier edition if I feel like I need to own it. Our lame library doesn't have it :/.
