Ok, so for the rehearsal dinner...

Ds is getting married next weekend. I have made arrangements to have the rehearsal dinner at a nearby community hall, and I've arranged to have a caterer friend take care of the meal.

Do we have to do anything else for that dinner? Like, are we supposed to say something before or after the meal, or anything like that?

I don't know why I can't remember how that usually goes. :001_rolleyes:

We sometimes photograph rehearsal dinners. Usually the hosts arrange for the minister to do the opening prayer and introduce him/her. I have seen the host welcome the guests while salads are being served, or thank them for coming while desserts are being served. I have also seen a new trend for the groom's cake to be served at the rehearsal dinner.

Off topic Julie, but have you got a picture/link of the dress you'll be wearing??

This dress in gunmetal: ETA: The dress is longer on me than it is on the model in the picture.

spacer.gifThese shoes with this bag: ETA: All of the shoes & bags were ordered online & are set to arrive tomorrow.

Or these shoes and this bag:

I admit that the shoes & bag are pretty pricey. Definitely more than I would spend on my own, but I had a set amount of money gifted to me to spend on my outfit, and it all added up to the right amount after I got the dress on sale.

This is making me laugh. I did this at my wedding nearly 20 years ago, so it's not new to me at all, In fact, it's the only way it should be done IMHO. I've never seen it done any other way, to be honest. I've been to a lot of rehearsal dinners & weddings over the years & have never seen one at a reception. Not everyone has one, but if they do, it shows up at the rehearsal dinner. Maybe it's regional?

You can do whatever you want! Our rehearsal dinner was a small crowd, maybe 15. We had a few toasts, but otherwise the group was small enough that we could all sit around one big table and chat. It was in an upstairs room of a little restaurant, and the restaurant had entertainment that evening downstairs. It was a man who was singing some fun folk songs and playing his guitar. I can't remember how it happened, but he ended up coming upstairs and playing for us for a bit. It was really nice, and nice to take a break from talking!

Maybe it's the South? We shoot in NC, SC, and VA. We shot a $80,000 wedding in Charleston two weeks ago, they served the groom's favorite pie, homemade by his family, at the rehearsal dinner and had the groom's cake at the reception. We shot a $50,000 wedding in Gereensboro last weekend and they had the groom's cake at the rehearsal dinner. Those are my two most recent weddings. So maybe price point or region? The Charleston couple actually lives in NJ.

I love the lace dress!
