What does SWB recommend after WWS?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to lay out our courses for the next few years, and am wondering if SWB has given a recommendation of a writing progression for middle/high school? I know there is a WWS 2 in the works- anything after that? If one completes WWS 2, at what level will they be? Would something more be needed at a high school level?

Thanks!

There is going to be a WWS 3. As for what follows, look at the rhetoric suggestions in The Well Trained Mind. The sticky on questions about WWS also has some of her suggestions.

She also has a audio download regarding Writing for the High School Student. We're a long way from that and while I've listened to it the specifics escape me. I do remember that the recording was well done, as they all are.

SWB is planning a high school level called "Writing with Style". If I remember correctly, she has now decided that the material in Writing with Skill could be taught in three years (with an optional year of review/practice). She suggests that completing WWS would prepare most students to be successful in a freshman writing class. Then, "Writing with Style" will include more advance techniques, such as persuasive essays. There was some discussion of this in the sticky - it might be worth your time to read through it. SWB makes many appearances in that thread to answer specific questions.
