Guest Szarban
Just started on the homeschool path a few months a go and am just starting to outline the direction we will be going in. Hoping to network with some other homeschoolers in the area and also other homeschoolers from anywhere of our age group. I am also in search of a non-secular, preferably local group to join. SewingMom2many
We are just west of Rockford :) Does anyone have a list of support or homeschooler get-together groups in the area? I'm looking for something once or twice a month and I'm willing to drive as far as Chicago or Madison.
Harriet Vane
CHAMPS is in Mount Prospect. Beacon is in the Elk Grove area. Try calling the Johnstown Public Library and ask for their homeschool resource room. The mom who runs it is fabulous. There are several in the Wheaton area. You might also look up The Orchard Evangelical Free Church (Arlington Heights) and see if you can get in touch with the organizer of their group. I believe there are members of that group that are from the north.
historically accurate
Rockford has several co-ops. I-HOPE http://illinoishope.webs.com/ A chapter of HOUSE http://www.illinoishouse.org/ A few Christian co-ops, Hallstrom and Grace, are the ones that I know of. I also think there are a couple of Classical Conversations groups. I believe of these only Grace is biweekly. All the rest would be weekly.
