Mommy22alyns
Reinforce it for me please! Sylvia does CLE math on grade level, but she doesn't struggle and wants to do 2 lessons a day. She wouldn't finish until so late in the year it wouldn't make sense to move on to 300. I just don't want her to rush and not thoroughly learn everything. I'm getting her some multiplication books, so I could just supplement with those.
Dmmetler
Why not go ahead into CLE 300? If she's ready to move on and wants to move on, she may not want to stop for the summer. And really, if you're going to do any math level in two different ways, 3rd grade, since BA is now fully available, is a great one to do so. I'd be tempted to let her go on, and add lots of nice supplements. Enjoy the ride. Because, honestly, from what I've found with my DD, there really are only two choices when a child wants to accelerate. The first is to let them do it with you right there. The 2nd is to try to hold them back, and discover that they're accelerating anyway.
mom2bee
Your post is a little confusing to me. Here is what I understand: Your daughter is doing CLE Math on grade level and it is easy for her. She wants to go a little faster by doing 2 lessons a day. (The "She wouldn't finish until so late in the year..." part is what gets me confused.) Anyway, I am inclined to say respect your daughters 'sensitive period' to math and let her move forward at her requested pace so long as she is still understanding everything and retaining everything. I see no problem with going ahead at a pace that she finds more comfortable, the last thing you want is to hold her back and for her to 'turn off' to math. In my experience, both as a student and a tutor for grades K-12 and now college mathematics, is that attitude is 2/3 of the math-battle. Mommy22alyns
Sorry, I didn't phrase that well. At the point we're at in the year and how much math there is, I don't know if it would be worth it to start 300 in May just to stop for the summer. Well, that might not matter. I just gave her the option and she okayed working through the summer.
Punks in Ontario
I believe that the first LU is mainly review. Could you start with 302 this spring and count the self check as the test and then do 301 in the fall as a review and use the 302 test as review. Then just jump in where she left off. I don't actually use CLE for math, but I do a similar thing with SM as both my youngers enjoy working ahead.
