Kathryn
If you use the HIGs, what did you do for level 6 of Singapore Standards? I'm still a few years off from it, but with the possibility of them changing Standards to Common Core, and even if they don't, them dropping level 6 altogether (as Jenny answered on the forums there yesterday), I'd like to go ahead and get what I need for it sometime soon. tullyfamily
Dropping level 6? Will they add more to the other levels? Are they still planning on just changing levels 1-3 this year? We own standards, so I'm buying up what we don't have before Singapore changes it. Errr! I'm interested to hear feedback because vie wondered the same question about level 6! Kathryn
All I know is what I read on the previous thread here at WTM and what was posted here: http://www.singaporemaths.com/forums/showthread.php?4575-Common-core-updates I've bought all the levels but six now (which I'll need, DS is not mathy and is working a grade level ahead) and I don't know whether or not to get teachers guides for level 6. I love the HIGs, but if 6 is mostly review would I be better off not spending $100 on them?
genny
there is no hig for level 6.
genny
I got the regular teacher's manuals . I don't know if I'll end up needing them (I'm far off from level 6).
Kathryn
there is no hig for level 6. I know, that's why I'm asking about if the teachers manuals are worth it for someone who really enjoys using the HIGs (I realize some people don't use or care about the HIGs, so I assume they wouldn't care at all about the teachers manual for level 6). I'm asking if it is worth it to buy teachers manuals for level 6 since 1. there are not HIGs and I'm not familiar with what the teachers manuals are like, 2. the teachers manuals are significantly more expensive than HIGs, 3. I've read that level 6 is mostly review so perhaps I wouldn't really need a manual?, and 4. I read that they may be discontinuing level 6 altogether and we will need that level since my non-mathy student is on schedule to complete 5B in fourth grade. I've looked for samples of the teachers manuals, but what is offered doesn't really show enough to give me an idea of whether or not it would be worth it. BugsMama
Cringe. I wish I hadn't seen this! Sigh..... Now to budget it in before it's discontinued.
