blessedx5
14yo ds has never had many allergy problems til about 3 weeks ago. His eyes began itching and were really red, some swelling. He has also been congested sounding in his sinuses. Started on zyrtec, wound up taking him to the doctor for some drainage and he was put on some medicated eye drops. The drainage cleared up but they were still red, itchy. 2 days after we stopped drops he woke up again with the crustiness on the eye..we were told to do drops again 5 more days and they wanted to see him if he had not improved within 3. He is really having a terrible time even with the meds he's taking. What else can I do? Debbie
AK_Mom4
Showers before bedtime really help here during pollen season. DD11 is bothered by birch pollen and in the spring it's everywhere. Washing it out of her hair before bed helps keep it from getting on her face and eyes at night. Also, we use an ait cleaner in her bedroom 24x7. It really helps with keeping the dust and pollen out of the air. But the showers at night made the most difference.

Joker
My oldest has several allergies and has to take zyrtec daily along with a prescription nasal spray. If she misses more than one day, her eyes are the first tell. They get very itchy, watery, and red. Have you taken him to an allergist? Sun
I've had horrible, horrible eye allergies for most of my life. The only thing that's ever really helped them is allergy eye drops. I use Opcon-A, which is what my allergist prescribed back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. It's available over the counter now, which makes it easier to try. The drops burn for a few seconds when I put them in, but then the itching is just gone, like magic. It seriously takes me from drippy, can't pull my hands off of my eyes because they itch so badly to NOTHING in less than a minute.
