missesd
Grrrr, 6mo ago I held in my hand the BEAUTIFULLY illustrated DK's Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Universe. I had homeschooling money set aside, but trying to hold onto it as long as I could, I thought "I'll just wait till tax time". Well now, NO kidding that $40 book is 2-3 THOUSAND on Amazon!!! I just wanna :crying: I wanted that book SO bad!! I will never, ever do that again... I learned my lesson!!
Hannah
:crying: Not with such a huge price increase - but I have had that kick-myself realisation as well :grouphug: .
SarahW
bookfinder.com Order from Canada and it's still pretty cheap: http://www.bookfinder.com/search/?ac=sl&st=sl&ref=bf_s2_a4_t1_4&qi=TXd8I9cEWclYjKte45W69HDM5Mo_6793425143_1:561:9115&bq=author%3Drobert%2520dinwiddie%26title%3Ddk%2520illustrated%2520encyclopedia%2520of%2520the%2520universe Is the non-DK version the same? http://www.bookfinder.com/search/?ac=sl&st=sl&ref=bf_s2_a2_t1_2&qi=TXd8I9cEWclYjKte45W69HDM5Mo_6793425143_1:556:9116&bq=author%3Dian%2520ridpath%26title%3Dillustrated%2520encyclopedia%2520of%2520the%2520universe Prices on Amazon have the tendency to be set by a computer program, which will throw the price way high if the book goes OOP in America or otherwise becomes rare as a New book. Hunter
Keep checking ebay. I hate when favorite books go OOP and the prices get so inconsistent. It takes work to get them at a good price, but you just have to keep looking, if you want them.
Wabi Sabi
What about ordering a used copy of this instead? Different version of the same book: http://www.amazon.com/The-Illustrated-Encyclopedia-Universe-Ridpath/dp/0823025128/ref=pd_sim_sbs_b_5

Yes! Exactly what I was going to link. No worries! They release these books again and again. It is only computerized pricing that pushes the cost up, but no sane person would pay that! I have an older version that is just as lovely. This one: http://www.amazon.com/Universe-The-Definitive-Visual-Guide/dp/0756613647/ref=pd_sim_sbs_b_1 . Your copy is more closely to the one I saw in the store. Theirs, if you look at the "First Pages" is different.
