Has anyone read these two books?

Don't know how to advise about picking. Only familiar with Victory on the Walls. It was *okay*. The writing was just adequate -- not very creative or engaging. Your standard "boy coming of age in an ancient culture" story. If you feel you really *need* historical fiction for this time/these events, then it's not bad, but if you're looking for good historical fiction, you can pass on this one.
