Ravin
The kids and I got in a car accident this morning on the way to drop DD at her enrichment program. We're all okay, except for some cuts DD got on her face and a few bruises on her and on me. We were in the ER half the day. Our car is totaled, though the other vehicles were able to drive away and their drivers, as far as I know, weren't hurt either. All day I've kept my cool because I had to, or because I didn't want to lose it in front of the kids. DD is really shaken up. I'm so tired, but don't want to close my eyes. PentecostalMom
Oh, I'm so sorry! I know how that feels. I can sympathize! (((hugs)))
AK_Mom4
Yes - sounds like it is an excellent time to turn into a total marshmellow, shake like a leaf, and otherwise lose it. A glass of chocolate would not be amiss either.
tex-bex
Yes, it's time. I'm sorry that happened! How scary! Glad you are all basically OK. Let it out, and hang in there!
Woodhaven
Yes, I understand! It's really frightening when you are that close to something really terrible happening! Very glad you and your kids are all right!!

Parrothead
I'm sorry you have had such a horrendous day. I'm not one for freaking out (unless there is fire involved), but if you feel the need have at it. You might feel better after.
Amy in TX
I understand how you feel. I was in an accident last year. My car was totaled, and I had some bruises. I totally did not expect to be in such a state of shock the next day--mostly spent the day crying. You are very fragile right now, quite understandably. Go to sleep, and tomorrow pamper yourself and the kids. Maybe don't do school--relax and have some kind of treat instead. I'm sorry! Lots of hugs.... Hen
so sorry. Take care of yourself, get some sleep and pamper yourself tomorrow. I know it's hard to have to be strong in front of the kids. :(

Cinder
I'm so tired, but don't want to close my eyes. :grouphug: I'm so sorry! My boys were in a car accident a couple months ago; ds1 was driving, airbags deployed. He was sick, emotionally, all day. Not just because the accident was his fault, but mostly because ds2 got a fractured ankle from it. No one else was hurt and the other car didn't sustain much damage but we lost our car. He was still quite rattled the next day when dh made ds drive with him to pick up the car from the towing lot. (At that time we thought the car might still be salvageable so ds had to drive the good car home while dh drove the damaged one.) Ds1 was able to realize how blessed he was during that time. So many people stopped to help and even the guy whose car got hit was very nice through the whole thing. And one of his teachers, who passed them on her way to school, was able to stay with them until the ambulance took them. And dh happened to be off that day so he was able to take care of the boys and just be with them. I'm so glad no one was hurt. I hope you're feeling better soon. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
Ravin
I WISH I could take it easy today! I have to take DD to her counseling appointment, then I have 2 classes to attend. I didn't try to go to my afternoon class yesterday, I'm now ridiculously behind. Fortunately I've got the hang of faking it when I haven't finished the readings. For now it seems plowing ahead is my best strategy. I did indulge in half a box of tagalongs and a hard coder yesterday though. DD is totally not getting schoolwork today. J-rap
I've done a lot of crying/freaking out behind bathroom doors. It feels really good to get it out! Glad the accident wasn't any worse, but I'm sure it was very scary!
Ravin
So I had my freak out. We stopped to gas up the van on the way to drop DS at his center, and I saw twelve gallons in that it was giving me mid-grade, although I'd hit the low-grade button. I took my frustration out on the gas machine, kicked it, yelled, and started crying. Fortunately the attendant was very kind and understanding. She helped me reset the machine to finish dispensing the right gas. DD got upset when I did, but I got her calmed down (along with myself) and told her that was how I respond to crises--I keep my cool during the big stuff and it comes out over something trivial. I also pointed out how I calmed myself down with deep breaths, etc. I'm sure it would have been a bigger freak out if she hadn't been there. Sisyphus
Accidents, anything with loads of adrenaline pumping, is a recipe for a full on break down for me. Or most people, really. We are just wired that way. the gas pump will be fine!
